The most notable aspect of the leap between the second and third iteration is the expansion in the machine's abilities. Because I have added a precision galvanometer, I am now able mark quality text and simple symbols at speeds up to two hundred times faster than the old system of movement. Although it only has a 100mm*100mm field of view, I was able to integrate the galvo with my system to achieve the full 20" *24" workspace. A side benefit of the galvo was the new ability to raster high definition images on a variety of materials. Above, I have included just such an example. By simultaneously pulsing and changing power on the laser, I am able to mark full greyscale images.
